Danish-born Wisconsin-raised Jensen is known for his natural landscapes as part of the prairie school movement. Jensen was head of the Chicago Parks District for many years, before retiring to his school, The Clearing, in Ellison Bay. Jens will be inducted into the Wisconsin Conservation Hall of Fame this year, 70 years after his death.

About the Speaker:

Stephen McCarthy ASLA has practiced landscape architecture in Illinois and Wisconsin in both the public and private sectors over the past 40 years with a focus on large scale natural resource based projects, native landscape restoration, and land acquisition and preservation. His award winning projects include residential, corporate, and institutional site design as well as master planning and design for parks and forest preserves. Throughout his career he has had a particular interest in the study of both native and ornamental plants. For the past 20 years he has served as landscape architect for the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District and manages the Greenseams land acquisition program which preserves wetlands, riparian corridors, and forested areas for flood control and water quality purposes in four watersheds of the greater Milwaukee area. He also continues a private practice providing site planning and landscape design services.
